Playmate Vicki Witt is the first to admit that her childhood was far from ideal. Moving around from town to town within Michigan with her large family made up of seven children, Vicki had limited opportunities to break out of her shell and establish who she was. It took some time, but eventually the all-natural sweetheart learned who Vicki Witt truly is. “I've got the boy-girl thing down,” laughs our voluptuous Miss August 1978. She’s easygoing, a tomboy, a diva on the dancefloor and a total optimist who sees the beauty everyday things. “There are a lot of things I like: a summer day, the smell of rain, skating, pinball, riding my ten-speed. I love kids; I could have hundreds. I’ve got lots of patience, so I’ll be an understanding parent,” says Vicki. “I don’t try to put on a front. That’s like lying; it doesn’t help and you get yourself confused.” Photographer David Chan first brought our Miss August 1978 to our attention when he was at Michigan State looking for girls to take part in our Girls of the Big Ten 1977 pictorial. She was simply beautiful with her flowing brown hair, sparkling eyes and love of all things sporty. The fact that she could eat more than anyone we’ve ever met and still stay so slim had us intrigued. “This is the happiest period of my life. I have a feeling something good is going to happen. The people I'm meeting are exciting and I'm starting to do all the things I've always wanted to,” admits the wise model. “If I feel something is right, I go ahead with it. I don’t examine my feelings. Then if something doesn’t go right, I just put it in the past.” Thankfully, posing for Playboy felt more than just right. With her newfound fame and everyone uttering the name Vicki Witt, she used this as an opportunity to work in Hollywood. Working on the visual effects of films like Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, Vicki Witt knew finally figured out who she really is and what she’s really meant to do.
