During our Playmate Search, we meet a lot of beautiful women who dream of becoming a Playboy Playmate. However, when Lesa Ann Pedriana approached our talent scouts during our Great 30th Anniversary Playmate Search in Hawaii, she had no desire to be a Playmate—she just wanted to work with them. “My intention was to do make-up for Playboy. When I was in high school, I thought being a Playmate was far too…I mean, I couldn't even see that. But, I could see doing make-up,” says Les Ann. “You open the book and you see women from Hawaii, women from Switzerland, and I thought, Great! They'll send me to Hawaii and Switzerland and I'll get to do make-up on beautiful women. Especially when I read about Cathy St. George (Playboy make-up artist and Miss August 1982), I thought, ‘That's what I want to do. So that was my original intention.’” To say our talent scouts were stunned is an understatement. Lesa Ann had the beauty, the all-natural bust which was framed beautifully by her golden locks. She was Playmate material and we knew she had to be swayed to see things our way. Following a few conversations, Miss Pedriana was sold on the idea, as long as she could also beautify our Playmates—it was the easiest deal we’ve ever made. “I called my girlfriend the first day on the job and said, ‘Karen, I'm doing make-up for Playboy!’ and she said, ‘Yeah, I know, you're shooting for Playmate,’ and I said, ‘No, I'm doing make-up for Playmates, too!’” laughs our Miss April 1984. “I was much more excited about doing make-up for the company than about appearing on the centerfold!” Our Playmates and our Playboy fans cannot imagine Lesa Ann not being part of the Playboy brand, and as for Lesa Ann, she still thinks being a Playboy makeup artist is the highest honor we could ever bestow on her. “I don’t think I will ever have pictures that are this good. Playboy has taken the most beautiful pictures of me that will ever be taken. From my point of view, the makeup is a real part of it. It makes you feel good about yourself.”
